Welcome
Karibu. This programme is for practising teachers who want to use artificial intelligence well: to plan, teach, assess and support learners with AI, while protecting those learners and keeping professional judgment where it belongs, with you.
It has five modules of three sessions each, made for a phone and your own time. Every session moves step by step: the situation, the key ideas, the key terms, the media, then your Staffroom Lab, where you make something you can use in your own classroom. Each step asks for a few minutes of reading before the next one opens, so that nothing is skipped.
You share each Staffroom Lab for review. Once the facilitator approves it, the session's Readiness Check opens. You clear it at 80%, you can take it again as many times as you like, and nothing is recorded against you: the check exists to make the next session useful, not to rank you.
Module 1 is free. When every session in every module is cleared, you receive a Certificate of Professional Completion that anyone can verify online.
This course is also the foundation and the entry point to GMIND Academy's CART Lab. NextGen Learners Hub is GMIND Academy's affiliate for CART in Kenya: choose Premium, now or at any point after Module 1, and we register you on the Lab, where GMIND Academy issues its own CART certificate.
Before you begin, please read the terms of participation, the code of conduct and the disclaimer below.
Terms of participation
These terms sit alongside the platform's full Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where they differ, the Terms of Service apply.
- Your account is yours. Use your own account and do not share it. The certificate is issued to the account holder, in the name on their profile.
- Module 1 is free. Modules 2 to 5 then open in one of two ways, each valid for 365 days from payment and paid through M-Pesa or card at the price shown on the programme page: the NextGen course (the programme pass), or Premium, which adds registration on GMIND Academy's CART Lab and GMIND Academy's CART certificate. Members of a teachers' network we partner with pay the network rate for the NextGen course.
- Upgrading. You can move from the NextGen course to Premium at any time while your access lasts, paying only the difference; what you paid for the NextGen course counts in full.
- Premium and GMIND Academy. NextGen Learners Hub is GMIND Academy's affiliate for CART in Kenya. When you take Premium, we share your name, email and phone number with GMIND Academy so they can register you on their CART Lab. GMIND Academy provides its Lab and issues its own certificate under its own terms.
- Refunds follow the platform's Terms of Service: duplicate or erroneous charges are always refunded in full, and a payment that did not deliver access is either completed or refunded, at your choice.
- Your Staffroom Labs are reviewed. Each lab you share is seen by the programme's facilitator, who approves it or returns it with a note. Share only your own work, and never a learner's name, photograph or personal details.
- Your work stays yours. What you create in the Staffroom Labs belongs to you. Please do not copy or redistribute the programme's own materials outside your school without our written permission.
- We may improve the programme. Sessions are updated as AI changes. We will not remove a module you hold access to without a comparable replacement.
- Your data. We keep your progress and your Readiness Check results so that we can show your progress and issue your certificate. A check you do not clear is not recorded as a result. When Nex scores your written answer, the answer and its score are kept, so the same words always get the same score and a person can review it if you question it. We do not sell your data. See the Privacy Policy.
Code of conduct
As a participant in this programme you agree to:
- Do your own work. Readiness Checks and Staffroom Labs are there to build your own capability. Using AI to learn is encouraged; using it to answer the checks for you defeats their purpose.
- Protect learners' information. Never enter a learner's name, photograph, contact details, health, family or disciplinary information into a public AI tool during this programme, or at all. The Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 applies to schools, and so does the TSC Code of Conduct and Ethics.
- Keep a human in control. Nothing produced by AI in this programme should reach a learner, parent or colleague without your review.
- Be honest about AI use. When you use AI to produce material others will rely on, be open about it where your school expects that.
- Respect colleagues. In any group activity or shared space, treat other teachers with courtesy, whatever their level of experience with technology.
- Report problems. If you see content in the programme that is inaccurate, unsafe or unfair, tell us at info@nextgenlearnershub.co.ke so we can fix it.
Disclaimer
This programme is professional development offered by NextGen Learners Hub. It is not a qualification, licence or registration issued by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), KICD, KNEC, the Ministry of Education or any other statutory body, and the NextGen certificate is not a GMIND Academy credential. Premium teachers who complete GMIND Academy's CART Lab receive GMIND Academy's own certificate, issued by GMIND Academy. The CPD hours on the certificate are notional study hours set by NextGen Learners Hub.
AI tools change quickly. Examples of tools in the sessions are illustrations, not endorsements, and we receive nothing from any tool provider for naming them. Check your school's and the Ministry's current guidance before adopting any AI tool, and never rely on AI output for a decision about a learner without your own professional review.
Nothing in this programme is legal advice. Where it refers to the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, it does so to help you ask the right questions, not to replace your school's own compliance advice.
Acknowledgement
The core inspiration for this programme is the Certified AI-Ready Teacher (CART) programme of GMIND Academy, founded by Dr. Success Ojo, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of GMind AI. GMIND Academy's CART programme trains educators to use AI for teaching, learning, assessment and productivity while promoting responsible adoption, and has worked with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to extend that training to teachers across Nigeria.
Our Course Author, Tobias Obura, completed that training, and its structure of five modules shaped this course: AI Fundamentals for Educators; AI Tools and AI-Powered Teaching; AI Safety, Ethics and Guardrails; Prompt and Context Engineering; and AI Policy and Responsible AI for Schools. Several frameworks you will meet, including the ROLE, GOLD and TEACH prompting frameworks, the VERIFY check and the eight building blocks of a school AI policy, come from GMIND Academy's materials and are credited where they appear.
NextGen Learners Hub is GMIND Academy's affiliate for the CART programme in Kenya, and our Course Author is a GMIND Academy Ambassador. This course is the foundation and the entry point to GMIND Academy's CART Lab: teachers who choose Premium are registered on the Lab, where the grounding they build here prepares them to thrive.
The sessions, Kenyan examples, Readiness Checks and Staffroom Labs are NextGen Learners Hub's own adaptation. Any errors in them are ours. We are grateful to Dr. Ojo and the GMIND Academy team.
